Connected home and NFC

Connected objects are increasingly present in our daily lives. Ikea, Amazon, Apple, all are committed to making our homes automated and intelligent places. From the refrigerator to the shutter, not an object escapes this. The way they are controlled is therefore at the heart of all the issues: the systems must be simple to use, fast, ergonomic.

Voice assistants like Siri or Alexa are powerful tools for this purpose. However, they are not the one and only answer to the problem. Quite the contrary. There are many situations where their use is problematic: too noisy environment, late hour, habit to take. This is where NFC comes in!

NFC, passive but powerful !

NFC is a technology that we are all used to use, almost every day, sometimes without even knowing it. It is the technology that allows us to communicate with our smartphone or our bank card at each contactless payment. Like bluetooth or other technologies, it allows the diffusion of a digital information flow without a wired connection. But unlike bluetooth or even wifi it has an extremely interesting advantage:

It can work passively. No power, nothing. This allows it to be simple to implement, to avoid energy overconsumption (it's better for the planet) and to give new design possibilities. Great, isn't it?

Wallr in a nutshell: Simplify

Our smartphone is most often always in our pocket or in our hand, why not use it without even touching our screen, like a badge? Wallr is my answer.

Wallr is a design solution to home automation and a decorative object in its own right.

By integrating an NFC chip, Wallr makes it possible to trigger scenes and automations in the house by a simple approach of the phone.

Thank you Apple

With the arrival of the Homekit and Shortcut apps as well as the latest update to its operating system, iOS 14, Apple is enabling its smartphones to be able to interact with NFC chips seamlessly. Better yet, your phone allows you to assign customizable functions to an NFC chip. Turn on the bedroom lights, turn off the house when you leave, send an automatic message to your contacts: the possibilities are endless. They can even be nested and give rise to cross-automations using Boolean operators such as if-functions or variables such as the time. Powerful!

An ergonomic design

Wallr is designed to be attached to your walls, like a classic switch, but without the laborious installation. The aluminum base is easily installed with 3M fasteners: simple but strong! The cover containing the chip is attached to it with magnetic fasteners. Interchangeable, you can move the functionalities that have been assigned to it from one base to another. No reconfiguration is necessary, you can move your automated functions from one room to another in a few seconds, according to your desires or your interior design. Bamboo, solid oak or mahogany, Wallr adapts to your decoration.

3 finishes, it's beautiful!
