EyeGuard

Bikers, you also have the right to safety!

As a motorcyclist myself, I have seen every day the lack of safety on a motorcycle. I have never experienced an accident. However, something had to be done.

I quickly became interested in on-board equipment for cars. Why didn't they have their counterpart on motorized two wheels? From there, the Eyeguard project was born, a blind spot detector for motorcycles that informs you of the presence of a vehicle in the blind spot and the level of danger according to the situation encountered.

Eyeguard, the blind spot detector for motorcycles

The objective

Improve active safety of motorized two-wheeler users by increasing their ability to perceive the road environment.

Background

Empirical observations of visibility constraints related to the driving of a two-wheeler and statistical analysis of motorcycle accidents Lack of visibility increases the risk of collision. The motorcyclist is required to look backwards by an average of 41 times per hour!!

From idea to product

Design thinking and global approach on the menu. The idea was to design a product that could be adapted to all motorcycle fleets while offering an optimal level of performance. Safety is no laughing matter! In the same way and to seduce the motorcycle community, the product had to allow a sufficient degree of customization so as not to encounter any obstacle related to aesthetics. The specifications are dense!

Perceived value and functional capabilities

Particular attention has been paid to the choice of materials and design as well as to the selection of the best components on the market. In addition to the ease of installation, the product must be able to withstand the elements, shocks, in short: the life of a motorcycle.

From engineering measurements and CAD design to... the first prototype

After all the phases of project definition, functional needs of the product, market research, 3D design, technical drawings or packaging, comes the first 3D prototype. Several iterations will follow to arrive at a finished product, source the producers and launch the last phases of the project before the market launch: Programming, homologation, testing, marketing strategy and communication supports, marketing mix.

The adventure continues... Let's discuss it!
